Use Masjid Jamek for the marathon venue, Pasar Seni for a Chinatown-based outing, Bukit Bintang MRT for Bukit Bintang, and KLCC LRT for the towers area during normal service. Travel between neighbourhoods by rail rather than relying on a taxi across the race route.
For Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October 2026, distinguish road closures from selected stations opening early and normal daytime rail service. The free early trains are announced for KLSCM runners, not as a weekend-wide free-travel offer. Organiser’s transport notice
When the roads close
| Period | What affects a city-centre trip |
|---|---|
| From Friday 2 October, 8pm | Jalan Raja/Dataran Merdeka closes for the event. Do not treat the square as an ordinary sightseeing stop this weekend. |
| Saturday 3 October, 5–10am | Eleven roads are listed for closure, including Jalan Ampang, Sultan Ismail, P. Ramlee, Raja Chulan and the roads around the historic centre. |
| From Saturday 3 October, 11pm | Jalan TAR/Jalan Tun Perak and the listed AKLEH, MRR2 and northbound DUKE/Jalan Duta sections close. |
| Sunday 4 October morning | The Sunday race closure programme covers 30 segments, including those closed earlier. Many closures begin at 3am Sunday; selected Bukit Bintang junctions are scheduled to reopen at 8am or 8.30am, and listed Jalan Ampang junctions at 8.30am. Tun Perak/Dang Wangi sections remain affected until 9.30am; highways and several northern approaches until 11am. |
These are scheduled times for listed roads or junctions, not a promise that the whole centre clears at once. The official Saturday list and Sunday list give the segment-level detail; Malay Mail’s 28 September report corroborates the main closure windows.
Saturday’s 10am listing is not an all-clear for Jalan Raja/Dataran Merdeka: the separate venue closure begins on Friday evening. The Sunday flyer also lists Bulatan Dato Onn to Jalan Raja Laut as closing at 3am Saturday, through 9.30am Sunday.
Early LRT/MRT: hours, fares and limits
The organiser announces:
- Saturday: complimentary service from 4–6am.
- Sunday: complimentary service from 1.45–6am.
- LRT: selected stations on the Ampang, Sri Petaling and Kelana Jaya lines, at 15-minute intervals.
- MRT: selected stations on the Kajang and Putrajaya lines, at 20-minute intervals.
Normal operations and standard charges apply afterwards. Parking fees may apply. The notice does not include Monorail or Shah Alam Line early service, so do not build a pre-dawn connection around them. Transport notice and station maps
Choose your station
The organiser’s early-opening station list includes KL Sentral, Masjid Jamek, Pasar Seni, Bukit Bintang and Bandaraya. KLCC is not listed: use it during normal service, not as an assumed pre-dawn boarding or arrival point.
| Station | Practical use this weekend |
|---|---|
| KL Sentral — Kelana Jaya LRT | Board toward Gombak for Pasar Seni or Masjid Jamek; KLCC is also on this route during normal service. This avoids a road transfer into the centre. |
| Masjid Jamek — LRT | Use for the approach to Dataran Merdeka, the race start/finish venue. Follow marshals and barriers for the final walk rather than assuming the usual pavement route is available. |
| Pasar Seni — LRT/MRT | Use as your Chinatown rail anchor or the transfer between Kajang MRT and Kelana Jaya LRT. From Bukit Bintang, take MRT toward Kwasa Damansara to Pasar Seni, then LRT toward Gombak for Masjid Jamek—or KLCC during normal service. |
| Bukit Bintang — Kajang MRT | Arrive within Bukit Bintang rather than asking a driver to negotiate Sultan Ismail or Raja Chulan. Choose the station exit for your destination and obey any street-level diversions. |
| KLCC — Kelana Jaya LRT | For a daytime Suria KLCC visit, follow the station’s Suria KLCC signage. Prefer this arrival to a road drop-off near P. Ramlee or Ampang during closures. |
Rail directions follow Rapid KL’s Kelana Jaya and Kajang station sequences. The organiser confirms Dataran Merdeka as the start/finish venue; Tourism Malaysia identifies Masjid Jamek as the rail approach to the building opposite the square. Suria provides its own station-access directions.
If you are not attending the race
Keep the morning within one neighbourhood, with a short walk to food and an indoor break. Postpone the usual Dataran Merdeka sightseeing walk, and use rail for a later change of area. A road reopening does not confirm unrestricted pedestrian access through the event site.
If haze or rain makes walking uncomfortable, choose an indoor KLCC or Bukit Bintang plan rather than adding a long outdoor loop merely because roads are closed to cars.
