The Bon Kiara Link Now Joins Jalan Kiara 3 and Jalan Duta Kiara

The Bon Kiara link opened on September 22, 2026, closing a small but consequential gap between Jalan Kiara 3 and Jalan Duta Kiara (EdgeProp). It creates a direct pedestrian connection between the Kampung Segambut Dalam side of Jalan Kiara 3 and the road serving Solaris Dutamas.

The important limit is scale: 40 metres is the approximate length of the new connection, not the full walk between the area’s food hubs.

Exactly where the link goes

One end of the link meets Jalan Kiara 3 on the Kampung Segambut Dalam side, beside the Bon Kiara development. The other meets Jalan Duta Kiara, the road on which Solaris Dutamas sits (paultan.org). This is the previously missing connection; it does not deposit pedestrians directly inside Publika.

The completed project is a two-way road with one vehicle lane in each direction and a pedestrian walkway. EdgeProp reported a cost of about RM3 million and an approximate length of 40 metres, while the developer’s opening announcement confirms that pedestrians as well as motorists can use the connection (EdgeProp; Bon Estates announcement via Yahoo News Malaysia).

Before it opened, Jalan Duta Kiara ended in a dead end. Motorists travelling between Bukit Pelangi and Solaris had to make a much longer road detour despite the areas being close together (Malay Mail). For pedestrians, the practical change is that the new walkway now bridges the former break in the local street network.

A practical two-stop food outing

The simplest use is a meal-and-coffee route between Steppes at 32, Jalan Kiara 3 and Solaris Dutamas or Publika.

1. Begin at Steppes. The complex’s reported daily hours are 8am–10pm, and it contains cafés, restaurants and a grocer; individual businesses may differ (SAYS). Choose one proper meal or one small stop rather than trying to sample every outlet.
2. Continue along Jalan Kiara 3 to the new connection. Use the dedicated pedestrian portion of the Bon Kiara link rather than the vehicle lanes.
3. Emerge onto Jalan Duta Kiara and continue towards Solaris Dutamas. The new section only bridges the two formerly disconnected streets, so the outing still includes walking on both approaches.
4. Finish at Publika for the second stop. Publika is at Solaris Dutamas, No. 1 Jalan Dutamas, and the shopping gallery lists daily operating hours of 10am–10pm. Individual food tenants may keep different hours (Publika).

For a morning outing, Steppes is the more useful starting point because the complex’s listed opening time is earlier. Around lunch or dinner, either direction works. Treat this as a two-stop neighbourhood outing—one anchor meal and one drink or dessert—rather than a large food crawl. What the opening does not establish

The documented improvement is specific: the new 40-metre section has a pedestrian walkway. Published opening details do not establish that the entire route along Jalan Kiara 3, Jalan Duta Kiara and into Solaris Dutamas has:

• continuous shade or rain cover;
• uninterrupted pavements;
• kerb ramps or tactile paving at every transition;
• a step-free gradient suitable for every wheelchair user;
• protected crossings wherever a pedestrian needs to change sides.

Do not interpret “pedestrian walkway” as a guarantee of a continuously covered or fully accessible journey. Anyone who needs a reliably step-free route should check the two endpoints and onward pavements before committing to the full walk.

For everyone else, choose the cooler part of the day, carry an umbrella for sun or sudden rain, and remember that the connection now carries two-way vehicle traffic where Jalan Duta Kiara previously ended. The link removes the former break in the street network; it does not turn the wider Mont Kiara–Segambut route into a sheltered pedestrian corridor.
