The Brickfields Deepavali bazaar is not on the usual Little India shopfront stretch in 2026. It has moved to the car park at Kompleks Tun Sambanthan, along Jalan Tun Sambanthan 1, toward the Bangsar end of Brickfields.
The bazaar is scheduled to run October 9 to November 7, 2026, from 10am to midnight daily. The Brickfields site may sell food, drinks and dry goods. A second, smaller bazaar at Jalan Bunus 6 near Masjid India is limited to dry goods (The Star; The Star).

Later coverage of the official announcement reported 122 bazaar lots at Kompleks Tun Sambanthan, 20 on Jalan Bunus 6 and 30 promotional licences for existing Jalan Tun Sambanthan premises (The Malaysian Reserve).
The publicised RM400 cap is a trader participation fee, not visitor admission. It covers the licence, service charge, site rental and deposit. Applications were directed through DBKL rather than intermediaries (Malay Mail).
Best approach from KL Sentral
If you are already at KL Sentral, walk southwest through Brickfields rather than taking the Monorail one stop to Tun Sambanthan. The bazaar site is west of the traditional Little India strip; Tun Sambanthan Monorail station is on the other side of KL Sentral from the new venue.
- Leave KL Sentral toward Brickfields/Little India and Jalan Tun Sambanthan.
- Set your navigation destination to “Kompleks Tun Sambanthan” or “Tun Sambanthan Complex, Jalan Tun Sambanthan 1.” A generic search for the Deepavali bazaar may retain an older pin.
- Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad provides a parallel route through Brickfields for part of the walk. Follow current pedestrian crossings and local controls for the final approach to Jalan Tun Sambanthan 1.
This is a neighbourhood walk rather than a station-door market. Keep the bazaar as the western endpoint if combining it with the rail-first Brickfields walk.
From Tun Sambanthan Monorail station
Tun Sambanthan station remains useful if you are arriving by Monorail from Bukit Bintang, Hang Tuah or Titiwangsa. Rapid KL’s official line information shows that Tun Sambanthan is the first stop after KL Sentral on the 11-station line (MyRapid).
From the station, walk west through the Little India area toward KL Sentral, then continue toward Kompleks Tun Sambanthan. Do not expect the relocated bazaar to be directly below or beside the station merely because the two share the Tun Sambanthan name.
If your train journey already ends at KL Sentral, riding one Monorail stop and then walking back across Brickfields adds an unnecessary transfer. Start walking from KL Sentral instead.
Do not reuse the 2025 closure map
The 2025 bazaar affected parts of Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Jalan Rakyat and Lorong Chan Ah Tong. During heavy rain and strong winds, tents collapsed along Jalan Tun Sambanthan; one lane had already been closed for stalls, and the fallen structures worsened congestion (The Star; Yahoo News Malaysia).
For 2026, DBKL said it had considered alternative routes and would impose strict traffic controls, but the September 21 announcement did not provide a detailed closure list. Do not assume the 2025 closures will repeat exactly. Rail avoids committing to a car route, while ride-hailing drop-offs may need to move if controls or crowding restrict access.
Because the venue is an open car-park site, plan for an exposed final walk and uncertain shade within the market. Late afternoon or evening should reduce direct sun, although crowds may be heavier. Carry an umbrella for both sun and rain, and leave some flexibility around food stops rather than building a tightly timed crawl.
